Isaiah - Day 55

versebyverse | July 20, 2008 14:14

Scripture:  Isaiah 3:2 (NIV):  "the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet, the soothsayer and elder,"

Thought:  To me, when mankind rejects God, God "takes away" the position and power man was given.

Question:  Do I see an absence today of leaders with integrity?

These are leaders.  These are strong men that are sought out for inspiration, defense, wisdom, spiritual guidance, predictions of the future and other publicly prominent roles.  God normally blesses us with good leaders, but when men fail to put God first, fall into idolatry and prefer to flee from God's splendor (see previous verses in Isaiah 2), God is left with only one choice:  He will "take from"...(Isaiah 3:1)...Israel the very leaders who are guiding the rest of the population, (even the leaders we think are valuable, like "soothsayers").

Do we see a removal of good leaders today?

I feel that whenever we see, either historically or prophetically, the chaos of the absence of good government, we should remember these scriptures:  it has not happened by chance, nor is man entirely the source of the issue.  God, the LORD Almighty (Isaiah 3:1), is behind the removal of power.  God is in control--of EVERY action.  God sets up "kings" and removes them.  God gives authority of all kinds, and He is the One who removes it.  We need to be asking why.

Prayer:  Father God, help us to put You first.  Help our leaders, on every level, to put You first and to love and serve You as they ought.  Amen.
