Scripture: Isaiah 7:22 (NIV): "And because of the abundance of the milk they give, he will have curds to eat. All who remain in the land will eat curds and honey."
Thought: To me, "little is much when God is in it"!
Question: Do I own the sweet "honey" of the present and indwelling Christ?
In the midst of the humiliation of judgment, Christ's remnant will enjoy sweet "nourishment" in Him. I say Christ's because He is connected prophetically to the appearance of curds and honey in verse 15 of this chapter, and I say remnant because this verse restricts the nourishment provision to those "who remain in the land" only. To me, this is a picture of how there will be "salvation in Christ" during the day of judgment. This salvation will give life to those "in the land", or in the place of blessing and faith-rest in Christ.
God infuses His goodness to the owner of the "young cow(s)" and "two goats", (yesterday's verse.) He blesses the owner with "abundance", (today's verse.) Out of this abundant supply of milk, the owner will have enough to make curds, a yogurt-type food. From this one owner, "all who remain in the land will eat..." The fact that this food is eaten with "honey" reminds us of the sweetnes of Christ--even in difficult times.
Thus, those who know and identify with Christ, though few in number, and though surrounded with judgments, will be sweetly sustained in the land of Judah. They are upheld by the hand of God Who is merciful, kind-hearted and loving, even in and through times of judgment.
Prayer: Father of mercies, I praise You for Your ways! If we have an abundance of anything, it is because of You. Help me always to remember this and to be properly thankful to You for all You give. Thank You for the sweetness of Jesus Christ and our great salvation in Him. Amen.
